In 2004, at the age of 17, he became the first Canadian citizen to win the Prix de Lausanne Apprentice Scholarship. The competition is open to non-professional young dancers aged 15 to 18, from all over the world. That prize led to a position as principal soloist with the Miami City Ballet.
